The Art and Craft of Clay
I have been collecting American Art Pottery dating from the early part of the 20th century for about 15 years, before eBay sent the prices spiraling into the heavens. I was never able to afford Grueby, Teco or Newcomb, but that never stopped me from using them as as a beginning place for my own work. The collection started many years before I even thought about clay, so it was natural that my creative inclination leaned heavily toward something I already knew and loved. I only have a few styles in what I would consider an Arts and Crafts style. Most of my pieces seem to be a combination of Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau - more of a transitional style between the two periods.
